Marketing Support for Language Schools

More students. Stronger agent relationships. Better systems. I provide flexible marketing and commercial support specifically for language schools, drawing on more than 10 years of experience in the international education sector.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Running a language school is very different from running a typical local business. You need to attract students from different countries, keep education agents engaged, fill quieter months, promote new programmes, manage your reputation and stay visible online — often with a small team already doing too much.

Your classrooms are quieter outside the summer season.

You have capacity, teachers and accommodation available, but enquiries slow down at certain times of the year.

You rely too much on the same markets.

A change in exchange rates, visas, flights or one important agent can quickly affect your student numbers.

Your agents don't hear from you enough.

You have hundreds of contacts in your database, but finding the time to send updates, follow up, negotiate commissions and maintain relationships is difficult.

Your marketing feels reactive.

A promotion is created when bookings are low. Social media is posted when someone has time. Emails are sent occasionally. There is no clear annual marketing calendar.

Your website isn't doing enough.

Students can technically find your courses, but your website doesn't always answer their questions, rank well on Google or make it easy to enquire and book.

Your team is doing too much manually.

Enquiries, follow-ups, spreadsheets, email lists, agents, documents and marketing tools have accumulated over the years. There must be a simpler way to manage it.

That's where I come in.

I've worked inside language schools.

I'm not a general marketing agency trying to learn the language travel industry from scratch. I've worked directly in international education, including inlingua Edinburgh and Alba English School, managing student recruitment, digital marketing, websites, campaigns, programmes, partnerships and commercial development.

My experience also includes working with international education agents and industry events including ALPHE and ICEF, as well as the development and promotion of Erasmus+, CLIL and TIC programmes.

I understand how a language school actually works: seasonality, course pricing, accommodation, agents, commission structures, groups, teacher programmes, direct bookings, repeat students and the constant challenge of balancing capacity with demand.

At inlingua, marketing and commercial initiatives contributed to:

+23%
Growth in turnover
+300%
Growth in evening course enrolments over two years
198
5-star reviews generated

But the numbers are only part of it.

How I can support your school

You don't necessarily need another full-time employee. You may simply need someone experienced who can take ownership of specific areas, bring new ideas and help your team get things done.

Student Recruitment & Marketing Strategy

Let's build a clearer plan for where your students should come from. The objective isn't simply to generate more traffic — it's to generate the right enquiries at the right time of year.

  • Annual and seasonal marketing planning
  • Student recruitment strategy
  • Target market identification
  • Direct vs agent recruitment strategy
  • Low-season campaigns
  • Market diversification
  • Campaign planning
  • Promotional offers
  • Competitor analysis
  • Marketing budgets
  • Student personas
  • Conversion tracking
  • Reporting and performance reviews
  • Fill your quieter months

July might look healthy. November can be a different story. Instead of waiting for bookings to slow down, we can build campaigns specifically around your quieter periods. Sometimes you don't need more courses — you need to package and promote the courses you already have differently.

  • Off-season promotions
  • Long-stay offers
  • Evening courses
  • Intensive programmes
  • Teacher training
  • Erasmus+ programmes
  • CLIL / TIC programmes
  • Closed groups
  • Junior groups
  • Local English courses
  • Business English
  • One-to-one programmes
  • Returning student offers
  • Alumni campaigns
  • New market campaigns
  • Agent Relationship Management

Your agents can be some of your most valuable partners. But relationships need maintaining. An agent shouldn't only hear from your school when you need more students — let's keep your school in their mind throughout the year.

  • Agent database management
  • Regular agent communication
  • Monthly agent newsletters
  • New programme announcements
  • Price and promotion updates
  • Agent follow-ups
  • Re-engaging inactive agents
  • Commission reviews
  • Commission negotiations
  • Agent agreements and terms
  • Agent information packs
  • Familiarisation trip communication
  • Market segmentation
  • Identifying potential new partners
  • ALPHE / ICEF preparation and follow-up
  • Email Marketing

You probably already have thousands of valuable contacts — students, former students, enquiries, agents, group organisers, teachers and schools. The problem is usually not the size of the database. It's using it properly.

  • Students & enquiries — new courses, seasonal offers, events, useful content and reasons to come back
  • Former students — stay connected with alumni and turn previous students into repeat customers and ambassadors
  • Education agents — keep partners informed about prices, programmes, accommodation, availability and updates
  • Leads — build simple automated follow-ups so interested students don't disappear after their first enquiry
  • Social Media & Community

Your current students are one of your best marketing assets. Let's make them part of the story. The goal isn't simply to post three times a week — it's to create a school that future students want to join, and current students want to talk about.

  • Instagram • Facebook • TikTok • WhatsApp
  • Student life & activities
  • New arrivals & graduation
  • Teachers & local guides
  • Student testimonials
  • Reels and short-form video
  • Student-generated content
  • Competitions & events
  • Programme promotion
  • Alumni content
  • Google & Local SEO

When someone searches “English school in Edinburgh”, “English course in the UK” or “Erasmus English course for teachers” — can they find you?

  • Google Business Profile optimisation
  • Google Maps visibility
  • Review generation & management
  • Local SEO
  • Technical and on-page SEO
  • Keyword research
  • Course landing pages
  • Blog strategy
  • Google Search Console & Analytics
  • Google Ads
  • AI search optimisation
  • Content, SEO & Blog Posts

Language school websites often contain hundreds of potential search opportunities that are never used. We can create useful content around questions students are already asking. I can research, write, optimise and publish the content for you.

  • Website Support

Your website should be one of your best salespeople — not another piece of admin. I work primarily with WordPress, so your school keeps ownership and control of its website.

  • Website audits
  • Course page improvements
  • Landing pages & copywriting
  • User experience & conversion optimisation
  • Mobile optimisation & SEO
  • WordPress management & updates
  • New programme pages
  • Online booking journeys
  • Analytics and conversion tracking
  • Full website redesigns
  • Programmes, Pricing & Commercial Development

Marketing can't fix an offer that isn't right. Sometimes we need to look at the business itself. We can look at what competitors are doing, what your students are buying and where there may be opportunities to improve your margins.

  • Course & accommodation pricing
  • Agent commission structures
  • Seasonal pricing & early booking offers
  • Packages & course positioning
  • Cancellation terms & promotions
  • Group pricing
  • New programme development
  • Erasmus+ · CLIL · TIC programmes
  • Teacher development & evening programmes
  • Low-season products & upselling opportunities
  • Systems & Workflow

Marketing problems are sometimes actually systems problems. If an enquiry comes through the website, what happens next? Who follows it up? Where is it stored? The objective is simple: less copying and pasting, fewer forgotten follow-ups, better visibility for your team.

  • CRM
  • Email marketing
  • Forms & automations
  • Shared & agent databases
  • Enquiry tracking
  • Reporting dashboards
  • Website integrations
  • Google Workspace
  • ERP tools
  • Accreditation & Business Consultancy

Planning ahead is easier than dealing with everything just before an inspection. If your school is preparing for British Council accreditation or re-inspection, I can support the commercial, administrative and marketing side of the business. I can also work directly with owners and directors on wider questions around the school's business model, positioning and future development.

  • Website information & course descriptions
  • Pricing & terms and conditions
  • Student communications
  • Agent information
  • Enquiry processes & marketing materials
  • Online information & internal workflows
  • Customer journey review
  • Business model & positioning
  • Flexible support. Without hiring another full-time person.

    Questions, answered.

Do you only work with English schools?+

No. I work with language schools and international education providers of all kinds — English, French, Spanish and others. My experience is primarily with English-language schools in the UK, but the marketing and commercial principles transfer across the sector.

Can you work with our existing marketing team?+

Yes. I can work alongside an internal marketing person or team, taking ownership of specific areas rather than replacing everyone. Many schools need additional expertise, not a whole new department.

Do we have to commit to a long contract?+

No long lock-ins. Monthly support plans run month-to-month after an initial period. Website projects are quoted individually. We start with what your school actually needs.

Can you help with ALPHE and ICEF events?+

Yes. I can help you prepare for and follow up on agent workshops and industry events — including agent targeting, communication, information packs and post-event relationship management.

Do you build websites on WordPress?+

Yes. I work primarily with WordPress so your school keeps ownership and control of its website — no proprietary platform lock-in.

Can you help with Erasmus+, CLIL and TIC programmes?+

Yes. I have direct experience developing and promoting Erasmus+, CLIL and TIC teacher programmes, including positioning, pricing and marketing to European teacher audiences.

    More than a marketing provider.

My experience spans web design, marketing strategy, SEO, paid advertising, social media, email marketing, eCommerce, branding, PR and digital transformation — all within international education and the language-travel sector specifically.

Inside experience. I've worked inside language schools, not just for them.

Agent & event knowledge. ALPHE, ICEF, commission structures, familiarisation trips.

Erasmus+ & teacher programmes. Development and promotion of CLIL, TIC and teacher training.

Full commercial view. Pricing, seasonality, accommodation, capacity and margins.

Systems & workflow. CRM, email, automations and reporting that reduce manual work.

One person, end to end. No handovers, no re-explaining your business.

    Let's talk about your school.

Tell me what's currently working, what isn't and where you want the school to be over the next 12 months. I'll take a look at your current marketing and we can identify some of the biggest opportunities. No sales presentation — just a conversation about your school.
