A little bit about me.

I came to Scotland to learn English. I stayed and built brands people remember.

Hi, I'm Loïc. I studied marketing and design in Paris, worked on national projects in France, then moved to Edinburgh in April 2014 with a suitcase and very shaky English. Ten years later, I've led marketing for language schools and one of Edinburgh's most-loved visitor experiences.

Rēkito is what happens when all of that goes to work for small businesses.

Edinburgh

April 2014

Edinburgh, a new language and a new chapter.

I moved to Edinburgh in April 2014 and found my first home in Bruntsfield, sharing a flat with Australians, Scots, French and Spanish flatmates.

My English improved quickly because I had no choice but to use it every day at home, at work and everywhere in between. It was also my first real experience of living in such an international environment, and I loved it.

Soon after, I joined inlingua Edinburgh, where I spent the next eight years working in marketing and helping people from all over the world come to Edinburgh to learn English.

It taught me something I still use every day in my work: good communication doesn’t need to be complicated. It needs to be clear, relevant and easy to understand.

The road here

Twenty years, two countries, one obsession: making businesses easy to find and easy to choose.

2007 — 2011 · France

Studying communication, marketing & web design

A technical degree in communication and webdesign in Cergy, then communication and media studies in Paris. Strategy and design have never been separate conversations for me since.

2010 — 2012 · Carphone Warehouse (The Phone House), Paris

From Communications Officer to Digital Project Manager

Sales animation and internal communications for 474 stores, then the digital department: mobile app, website and the French online shop, with a €83k budget and five nationwide projects. Achievement: €45k monthly profit through affiliates, cross-selling and AdSense.

Feb 2013 — Jan 2014 · IPERIA l'Institut, Alençon

Digital Project Manager, national-scale projects

I built the digital marketing strategy, repositioned the brand and was chosen to develop the national marketing strategy for net-particulier.fr, a government portal built with the French Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.

Jun 2022 — Jun 2024 · Alba English School

Head of Marketing

Growth, brand and sales strategy for an independent Edinburgh school: +61% turnover in 8 months, 470k website sessions and an agent database of 3,361 contacts.

Eight years at inlingua Edinburgh

The job that used every skill I had.

inlingua let me build a strong identity from the inside out — website, brochures, campaigns, social, agent network, events. And the purpose behind it was personal: helping students do what I had done, learn English, discover Scottish culture and start a new chapter of their life.

When you've sat on both sides — the nervous new arrival and the marketer — you write very different copy.

184k website sessions and 1,440 online bookings in 12 months

41k Facebook fans in a year, 7k Instagram followers in 7 months

Evening course bookings up 300% in two years

What I stand for

Brands are built by people, and people should feel welcome.

One of the campaigns I'm proudest of wasn't a sales campaign at all. At inlingua Edinburgh, our team came together to show LGBTQ+ students and staff that the school was a place where they could be completely themselves.

As a gay man who arrived in a country where I knew nobody, that mattered to me more than any conversion rate. It's still how I work: inclusive language, honest messaging, and brands that treat their audience like human beings.

Clear, inclusive language over clever jargon

Honest marketing — no promises your business can't keep

Work built with your team, not over their heads

The inlingua Edinburgh team, together for Pride.

Off the clock

Husband, dad, vinyl collector, terrible at sitting still.

I'm married to a lovely husband and we've shared the last 15 years. Together, we are parents to an 8-year-old who currently knows more about dinosaurs than I do about SEO.

Outside work, you'll find me at the gym, cycling, cooking food from just about anywhere, listening to electronic and Latin music, or adding another alternative artist to my vinyl collection.

For the last eight years, we've split our life between Edinburgh and the Canary Islands. Two places, two rhythms and a lot of thinking time on planes.

How I work now

I created Rēkito to give small businesses the marketing big brands take for granted.

Eleven years in-house taught me what actually moves the numbers: a better website, more enquiries, stronger visibility on Google, a clearer story. No unnecessary complexity, no generic marketing plans — just one experienced person working directly with you.

Listen first

Every project starts with your business, your customers and what success actually looks like for you.

Focus on impact

I pick the changes that move the needle fastest — website, SEO, or simply saying what you do more clearly.

Build for the long term

Websites and strategies that are easy to manage, easy to update and still working for you in three years.
